Vintage ATC

Hi there!

This ATC is mainly made from snippets which I’ve made into a collage.

I’m taking this along to the TAG-ALONG & ATCS September Challenge where the theme is CIRCLES. Hoping the two clock faces will count towards the theme, or the pattern made by the four petaled flowers - but if not, it will certainly fit in the ANYTHING GOES option!

Details:

  • Background = snippet of paper from a Zine that I stencilled, but ended up binning. Kept the bits of it that I liked . . . and glued one of them onto this ATC base!
  • Clock faces were carefully cut out from a photocopied page of Stamperia Voyages Fantastique images.
  • 'BPR . . . LYON’ ticket was stamped, coloured and cut out using the PaperArtsy Eclectic AB37  “Poppy Edition” stamp set.
  • Four petaled flower die by Stampin Up, cut from packaging.
  • Torn piece of paper snippet with figures on.
  • ‘Vintage’ stamped word by Aall & Create.

Sunday Snippets - Bloom

Hi Playmates!

I'm hosting a new challenge over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND for the next fortnight. Hope to see you on the swings or in the treehouse!

For my homework I used a snippet of white card, originally measuring 8.5” x 2.5”, which I folded in half to make a 4.25” x 2.5” card.

Small card measuring: 4.25" x 2.5"

I stamped the flowers first, then added the Washi tape and sentiment. The flowers were coloured with SU Tip Top Taupe ink and a waterbrush. I stamped the "bloom” word last.

Allsorts Challenge #858

Hi there!

I’m delighted to be back over at ALLSORTS as Guest Designer for the next fortnight, where Gail has chosen the theme of SYMPATHY/THINKING OF YOU/GET WELL. Plenty of choice there, but if the theme isn’t for you, there’s always the “anything goes” option.

I went with the theme and made the following card:

A6 sized card

There’s a lovely prize available - full details on the challenge post HERE. Please pop over and see what lovely cards the DT have made.

Details:

  • PaperArtsy "Poppy Edition" EAB37 stamp set for all the stamping.
  • SU Tip Top Taupe ink & a waterbrush used to colour the seedheads.

Sunday Snippets - The Seedheads Edition

Hi Playmates!

I'm hosting a new challenge over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND for the next fortnight. If you want to join in the fun, all you have to do is use up some of your snippets on a project, then come and play.

For my homework this week I made a card with white snippets and a new stamp set that I just couldn’t resist.

6" x 4" card

Details:

  • All stamps are from the PaperArtsy Eclectica AB37 stamp set by Alison Bomber - "Poppy Edition".
  • White snippets were used for the main panel and for the extra seedheads that I carefully stamped, cut out and added to the card with foam pads and a tiny amount of glue.
  • Inks: SU Tip Top Taupe and VFC Pinecone.
  • Seedheads painted with whatever Distress Inks were left over on the white tile I was using for a different project!

Summer Coneflower

Hi there!

I simply LOVE this Aall & Create “Roadway Vistas” die set and have been playing around with mixed media on the main panel.

First of all, I glued on some old paper snippets, then dry brushed over them with white gesso. Next I brushed on various Distress Inks, followed by scraping modelling paste through a dotty stencil. I added more ink once the modelling paste was dry. Flicked some watered down orange and buff titanium acrylic paint splatters on.

Then it was a question of deciding how to embellish the lumpy, bumpy surface! So I found some printed PaperArtsy tissue paper and wetted round the edge of some text, pulled it out of the sheet and glued to the panel. I stamped, coloured and cut out the PaperArtsy coneflower so I could glue it on. Finally I added a little shading and grounded the flower. Added the whole thing to a 5” x 7” Kraft card.

5x7 sized Kraft card

Details:

  • Aall & Create “Roadway Vistas” die set
  • PaperArtsy tissue paper
  • PaperArtsy “Coneflowers Edition” stamp set EAB49
  • Distress Inks; Inktense pencils; modelling paste through dotty stencil; Sakura Brush pen to ground flower with; shading done with a Stabilo All pencil and a water brush.
  • Snippet strips of paper used as a first layer on the substrate - although you can barely see them unless you look up close at the panel IRL!!!
Taking this card over to the WE LOVE STAMPING July Challenge where the theme is SUMMERTIME. As coneflowers are summer flowers, it fits the bill.

Floral Tag

Hi there!

I made a double die-cut tag to enter into the current TAG-ALONG & ATCs Challenge where they want you to share your favourite colour for your tag, bookmark or AT coin/card. Now, in truth, I love all colours, but blue is my absolute favourite, especially turquoise and teal, but I also love purple. So, this tag is my second favourite colour, along with a touch of bright pink.

Die-cut tag

Close up to show flower dimension

Materials:

  • Stitched Label Rectangle dies (D180117) by Gummiapan, held together with a eyelet which was set with my Crop-A-Dile tool.
  • Daisy dies by Marianne Designs (cut from snippets of an ugly journal page).
  • Julie Hickey Glossies dome in flower centre.
  • Strip of text from PaperArtsy JOFY Set 102.

Coneflower ATC

I recently visited my local craft shop (The Malthouse at Herstmonceux - bricks & mortar shop only, no mail order) and discovered a beautiful PaperArtsy stamp set called "Coneflowers Edition" . . . which just had to come home with me as a little present to myself!

The inky ATC snippet was ready and waiting to be used on my desk (along with a few others), so I opened up the newly acquired stamps and created an ATC.

ATC

The April theme at the Tag-Along & ATCs Challenge is Blossoms, Butterflies and Birds, (or AG) so I'm joining in using the theme.

 Details:

  • Snippet of an art journal page that had been used to mop up ink left over on stencils, cut to 2.5" x 3.5"
  • Coneflower and words from the PaperArtsy Eclectica EAB49 "Coneflowers Edition" stamp set

Doodling with torn paper snippets . . .

Hi there!

Something VERY quirky from me today!

I saw something on Pinterest which showed tiny bits of brown paper with doodling around their shape. This piqued my interest, so - I thought I’d have a go myself! I would link to the Pinterest post, but I can’t find it anywhere now, despite searching!

Here’s the final results, made into cards:

The process I used was to find a few brown paper snippets (never a problem, I have loads of brown paper snippets). Then I tore them into small pieces and stamped them randomly with the Funky Fossil “Shoot for the stars” text stamp. Once they were glued to a piece of A4 printer paper, I simply doodled around them and cut them out ready to add to cards.

Bits of stamped brown paper ready to doodle! I glued paper onto two A4 sheets,
but I’m sure you get the idea from this one.

These were the doodles that made the Final Cut - but then, I
didn’t like what I made with the “mouse” or the “toucan”, so they
got binned!

4.5" x 4.5” sized card with a stamped & stencilled background,
plus a clock that I cut out and stuck behind the doodle.

"Small Triangles” stencil by Rubber Dance; sentiment from
Grunge Collection SL GR STAMP43 by StudioLight.
Grounding stamp by IndigoBlu.
Custom card size 4 1/8th x 5"

PaperArtsy “mini” stamp in orange; grounding stamp
by IndigoBlu. Sentiment from the “So Weird” set by Whimsy Stamps.
Custom card size: 5” x 5.5"

It was a bit of fun, and I got a few cards out of the exercise, so I was happy!

Sunday Snippets - another Christmas Candle!

Hi Playmates!

I have published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire the top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize. There's still nearly a week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so. Remember to look at the Noticeboard at the bottom of the Playground blog post.

For my homework this week, I made another hand-drawn candle card!

As mentioned last week . . . . I was inspired to draw the candle after seeing Tina Cox’s designs at Clarity Stamp.

5.5” x 3.5” card

White snippet that I scribbled some red Tombow pen on in order to
die cut some berry shapes (I used the larger 3 berries!)

White snippet that I scraped my VFC Spruce
ink pad on so that I could stamp and cut
out the holly leaves in a dark green.

I stamped the holly leaves first, then drew the candle.
(You can still see my pencil marks on the flame!)

Details:

  • Magnolia holly leaves stamped 3 times onto a white snippet for the main panel, and again onto a further white snippet that I had scraped a VFC Spruce green ink pad across. I then cut out the leaves and adhered them to the panel with foam pads.
  • Hand-drawn candle, coloured with a mixture of Tombow pens and Distress Inks.
  • Berry dies - probably Sizzix(?) which came as part of a foliage set.
  • The Merry Christmas sentiment comes from a PaperArtsy JOFY set of stamps.
  • Main image mounted onto a red snippet of card.
  • The originally A6 sized card was cut down to give an even border around the main panel.

Two-part swing tag

I wanted to add a tag to the current TAG ALONG & ATCs CHALLENGE where the theme is TRAVEL (or Anything Goes).

I was going through my papers looking for something else, when I happened across some papers with hot air balloons printed on them. "AHA! That will comply with the challenge theme," I thought! So I grabbed a sheet and made a two-part swing tag ready to adorn a birthday present at some point!

The finished swing tag.

The pieces I used for the tag.

Details:

  • Hot air balloon tag, cut from a sheet of paper "extras" from the Craft O'Clock "Warm Breeze" paper pad.
  • Snippet of white card cut to same dimensions as hot air balloon tag and stamped with a PaperArtsy birthday message.
  • Both tags were then tied together with a snippet of raffia.

Sunday Snippets - Tag You're It!

Hi Playmates!

In my satchel this week, I have some cheese and biscuits to go with the mulled wine that's helping to keep us warm and happy up in the treehouse!

For my homework, I made various Christmas tags from snippets of card and paper, and I'm sharing a couple of my favourites with you today.

Both tags were made entirely from snippets of white card and torn bits of patterned paper - with a little stencilling, stamping and die-cut snowflakes to decorate.

So, why not take a look at your snippets pile, pull a few bits out and see what you can make? Then come over to play in the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND. At the end of Challenge #495 there will be FOUR lucky prize winners drawn at random and the results will be posted on 29th December.
