I drew a girl in my large art journal (April 2025)

Drawn after taking an online art class by Karen Campbell for 2 weeks.

A6 Journal - Hand drawn trees (March 2025)

I hand drew the trees, grass and little Yorkie dog then coloured with Distress Inks.
The words are from an Aall & Create stamp set.
Inspiration for drawing the trees came from Pinterest.

Collage Page (Nov 2024)

The background was created by using a brayer to spread orange & blue acrylic paints
over the top of a previous background which I had painted two coats of white gesso on.
I used a baby wipe to take some of the paint off, then stencilled over the top with a dotty
stencil.
Packaging paper was stamped on with a Funky Fossil text stamp and glued to 
the side of the page. 
Snippets of packaging, envelopes and a gelli print were glued on. 
Focal elements of a paint doodle circle, the numbers (from the back of a Paper Artsy
stamp packet) and a white die cut love heart were added on top.
I used a black Stabilo All pencil and a waterbrush to outline the 
collage snippets. Posca pens were used to add some randomly doodled dots over
the focal points.
Final touch was to die cut the 'Collage' letters and glue on. 

Pretty in pink - double page spread (Sept 2024)

Pink acrylic paint spread across previously painted pages.
Collage was added to the left hand side, then splatters using a splatter stamp and
black archival ink. 
White acrylic paint was sponged through a Uniko "Squares" stencil
on both pages to unify.
Words handwritten using a Frixion pen first, then gone over with black and white Posca pens.
The original Frixion pen ink was erased by heating with a heat gun!

Two more pages created in July 2024

The photo below shows how this double page originally looked.
The left hand page (above) was created by painting Ochre acrylic paint across the
whole page, then using Cut 'n' Dry foam to sponge black acrylic paint through stencils.
White acrylic paint was sponged through stencils after the black paint had dried. 
The flower "goblets" were hand drawn on top of a toning gelli print, then cut out and glued onto the page. The stems were drawn in afterwards. Didn't feel the page needed any words.

This double page is how the orange and blue one above originally looked. 
However, I didn't like the slightly muddier colour on the right hand page, 
so I painted 2 coats of Gesso over the top to start again.
Once dry, I roughly brayered Paynes Grey onto the page. Then used 
Cut 'n' Dry foam to sponge more Paynes Grey through the scalloped stencil
at opposing corners. Once THAT was dry, I added white acrylic paint through 
the leaf stencil. Leaves were outlined with a Sakura Sparkle pen.
The words are handwritten using a Posca pen.
Changing the right hand page emphasised the left hand one - which made me happy! 

Autumn Leaves (July 2024)

Both pages were painted blue to begin with, then various acrylic paints were sponged
through stencils using Cut 'n' Dry foam to create the background.
The final stencilled layer was the dotty circles, created with white acrylic paint.
A torn strip of contrasting gelli printed paper was glued across the bottom. 
The "Autumn Wonder" leaves are by Crafty Roo and were stamped 3 times, cut out
and glued on to the page. A black Stabilo "All" pencil was used to create shadows
beneath the leaves to make them stand out more.
Finally, I wrote the quote with an erasable Frixion pen first, then wrote over the top with a light orange Posca pen. (I heated the words afterwards to erase the Frixion pen ink!)

Nature does not hurry . . .  (July 2024)

Diagonally torn gelli prints stuck to opposite corners of the double page spread.
Blue, pink & white acrylic paints applied with fingers. Copy paper stamped up and torn to add collage to the pages. White ink was added through a bubble stencil. Once dry, stencilling was added by brushing dye inks through the Funky Fossil "Make Art" stencil & the "Numicon" stencil by Heffy Doodle. More collage was added at page edges, then knocked back with some Gesso & stencilled over.
A torn piece of paper acts as grounding to the Funky Fossil hare (from the Tall Grass set). The hare was stamped in Twilight Versafine ink, heat embossed using clear EP, then cut out and stuck on the page. 
Lao Tzu quote handwritten. (I used a Frixion pen first, then wrote over the top with a black Posca pen.The words were heated afterwards to erase the Frixion pen ink!)

Orange Flowers (Feb 2024)

Tower of Strength . . . (October 2023)

The tower was torn from a book and glued to the page. 
A variety of inks were sponged through different stencils.
Used my small Funky Fossil "Claire's Dots" stamps for all the small dots.

The Secret to Happiness . . . (August 2023)

The green background had been created previously and was waiting to be 'dealt with'!
I started on the right hand page by drawing around a plate and painting it with 
blue acrylic paint. Next, I stamped the newspaper column twice and then
used a black Posca pen to draw a stem. The flower pods were drawn onto music paper
freehand, then coloured in and cut out ready to stick in place. I also added some
white Posca pen in the flower stem.
Finally, I wrote out a quote on the left hand page (so please forgive the slightly
wonky writing) and called it done!
I was inspired to create the flower pod after seeing something similar on
Pinterest by Jo Firth-Young.

Abstract Art (July 2023)

Taupe coloured shapes painted first, then the blue ones
ensuring a hole was included in each blue shape.
Multiple lines drawn around the shapes with a Posca pen.
White Posca pen drawn down the "stems".
A little bit of writing added, plus some paint splatters to finish.

Leafy page (July 2023)

Border created by scraping dark blue acrylic paint along
the edges with an old gift card.
Gesso added inside the border with bubble wrap.
Leaf sprig drawn with black Posca pen first, then circles added with a black Posca pen.
All circles turned into "bubbles" by painting with white acrylic paint first,
then darkening the edges with the same dark blue paint as the border
mixed with white paint. Finally, the leaves were painted purple &
details were added with a white Gelli Roll pen.

Floral Art Journal Page (June 2023)

I used Gesso to cover over a page background I no longer liked.
Numbers were stamped and heat embossed at page edges.
Then I used a black Posca pen to draw the flower cups first so that
I could draw in the stems afterwards, allowing me to
draw one of the stems "behind" a flower cup
The flowers were grounded using the Posca pen.
Flower cups were painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paints in
yellow, orange and white. Once the paint was dry, I went back over
the lines with the Posca pen to redefine them.
May add words at a later date, or may leave it as it is!

Art Journal Pages (March 2023)

Acrylic paint background & stencilling. Black Posca pen used
for handwritten words, doodled foliage and border.

Book images torn out of a magazine, glued on, then painted over
& around the image with acrylic paints. White acrylic paint lightly sponged through
stencils. Words handwritten with white Posca pen.

This page started with a "mop up background" created ad hoc
while making cards and other journal pages.
Washi tape was added to LHS & acrylic paint
brushed over it to blend in with the rest of the page.
I drew grass and a leafy sprig on book
pages, cut them out and glued them onto the background.

Gelli Plate Stamping

Used a brayer to add a base colour of acrylic paint to my 4" round Gelli Plate (GP), then used the GP as a stamp to add a plain circle to the page. Once dry, I placed a stencil on top of the base circle, added more paint to the the GP in a different colour to the original circle and stamped the GP THROUGH the stencil (over the top of the original circle). The smaller 3D circles were created using dye inks and make-up brushes through the Funky Fossil "Round in Dots" stencil. Sentiment was a magazine freebie, stamped in VFC black ink & heat embossed with clear EP.

Gelli plate used as a stamp! Fab fun!

Finger painting is SUCH fun!

Painted the page with black acrylic paint first.
Various sized pot lids dipped in orange paint and added to horizontal
line. Old gift card dipped in orange paint to create some straight lines. 
Added vertical lines with finger swipes of
white acrylic paint for main image.
Index finger daubs at bottom right.

Sarntangle Page

This page was sprayed with blue and purple ink.
The words were cut from a magazine and stuck on the page.
Black Sakura pen used to Zentangle all over the page.

This is the first ever journal page I created!

 I had SOOO much fun making this!

Lots of ink daubed over the page and lots of stamping added.
