Gerbera ATC

The April theme at the Tag-Along & ATCs Challenge is Blossoms, Butterflies and Birds, (or anything goes) so I made a card with a lovely big flower on it in order to join in using the theme. You have until the 28th April to join in and there's a lovely prize on offer.

ATC

Details:

  • Gelli print snippet glued to ATC base (2.5" x 3.5")
  • Funky Fossil Washi tape added to right hand edge
  • Uniko Pure Florals Gerbera stamp (cut out with matching die), lightly coloured with watercolour pencils and a waterbrush
  • Unknown sentiment heat embossed in white EP added to the top

Mini Moo Cards

Hi there!

I had not heard of Mini Moo cards until I ventured over to see what The Little Things Challenge was all about.

In the Permitted Projects section of The Little Things Challenge, Mini Moo cards are said to measure 28mm x 70mm (1.1” x 2.75”) and were originally tiny business cards . . . but crafters have adopted them!

SO . . . I went ahead and made one, using up a few smaller snippets in the process.

My first Mini Moo card

Materials:

  • White snippet of card measuring 28mm x 70mm
  • Striped Washi tape by Funky Fossil.
  • Unbranded flower die from Amazon, coloured with a pink Posca pen and Shabby Shutters DI.
  • Grungy “flourish” word from the Spread A Little Happiness set (#628) by Aall & Create

I had so much fun making the first Mini Moo that pretty soon there were THREE!!!

Are you wondering what I will do with such tiny things? Well, as I'm primarily a card maker, I mounted the original panel onto card snippets and glued them to card fronts . . . wanna see?

Here you go:

The Mini Moos were mounted onto card snippets and
added A6-sized cards. Sorry about the bad lighting -
taken in the evening under artificial light.

They could also be used as small tags if you punched a hole in the top and added twine; or put into the pockets of your junk journal, or even a teeny tiny bookmark!

January Rudolph Day - Christmas Penguin

Hi there!

Okay, so Rudolph Day was yesterday . . . but you have until the end of the month to join in with the challenge HERE.

On this card, I used a torn piece of paper with a blender brush and light blue ink to create the snowscape. Then I brushed the same blue ink through a few stencils. The penguin is a snippet that I coloured and cut out a little while back, and the "Christmas" word and "25th" stamps are from a new stamp set I acquired from Hobby Art, who recently stopped trading. As a final touch I added Washi tape to the left hand edge.

C6 sized card

MATERIALS:

  • Funky Fossil Washi Tape at the left hand edge.
  • "Christmas" word and "25th" by Hobby Art from their "Christmas Post" stamp set. I coloured the sentiment in with blue Tombow marker pens.
  • Geometric Flowers stencil by Funky Fossil and an unknown make for the swirly stencil.
  • Torn paper used as a mask to create the snowscape with light blue ink and a brush.
  • AALL & Create Penguin from set #604, stamped onto a white SNIPPET and coloured in with watercolour pencils. The penguin was cut out and glued to the card front.

Textured ATCs

Hi there!

I made a set of ATCs just for fun!

I'd like to enter these ATCs into the November TAG-ALONG & ATCs CHALLENGE where the optional theme is to ADD SOME TEXTURE.

Set of 4 ATCs

Below: work in progress:

This pic shows how they looked after stamping; stencilling;
adding modelling paste; Washi tape and
gold splatters (which remained raised once dry)
and before
adding the die cuts and mounting onto
SU Misty Moonlight card
.

The left over snippets I can play with another day!
These show up the original stencilled and stamped layers
prior to adding the different textures.

DETAILS:

  • Stencils: 'Ink Swirls' by Visible Image and TCW various circles stencil and 'Zippy Dots' by Memory Box.
  • Inks: Distress Oxide colours Spiced Marmalade; Peeled Paint and Faded Jeans for the stencilling; Misty Moonlight dye ink by SU for all stamping added on top of the stencilling.
  • Stamping: blue circles ('Tall Trees' set by Funky Fossil); line of numbers by IndigoBlu; broken circles from a grunge set by StudioLight; blue splatters from the Gorgeous Grunge set by SU.
  • Washi Tapes: Aall & Create numbers #7 and #41.
  • Galeria Modelling Paste - trowelled on through the dotty & circular stencils mentioned above. I brushed more Distresss Oxides over the paste once it was dry as it didn't show up very well! I do not recommend the Galeria modelling paste (recently bought from Hobbycraft) as it is very lightweight and although you can FEEL it, it's hard to actually SEE it unless inked over!
  • TEXTURES: All ATCs have modelling paste, raised gold splatters and Washi tape added to them. In addition 3 of them have die cuts from snippets of SU Misty Moonlight cardstock as follows: Top Right = Marianne swirly foliage die, plus a few extra leaves from a die by The Works; Bottom Left = Daisy Flower by Leane Creatief and two smaller flowers from "The Missees" set by Karin Joan for Studio Light, flower centres = a tiny floral die by Gummiapan, and Bottom Right = two unbranded daisy dies bought from Amazon.

Something a little different . . .

Hi there!

Today I have a couple of things to share with you.

First, I made an art journal page having watched THIS VIDEO:

Double page spread in my Dylusions A4 sized art journal.

Then I used the same method to make a card, by shortening the length of the figure so it would fit!

5 x 7 card

Card Details:

  • Various acrylic paints were randomly applied to the 300gsm white card in different layers and some were wiped off through stencils.
  • Once the paints were dry, I stamped all sorts of grungy stamps over the pages using VFC Nocturne ink.
  • While the ink was drying, I drew a figure on a piece of cardboard packaging and cut it out. Once the ink was dry, the mask was placed on the painted & stamped surface facing to the left while I added white paint around it. The mask was flipped over to face the other way while I added more white paint around it!
  • Once the white paint was dry, I outlined the figures with a white gel pen, just to tidy them up.
  • I ran a gold calligraphy pen around the edges of the main panel before gluing it to the card front.
Both card making AND art journaling make me happy, not to mention all that stamping and getting messy with acrylic paints in the process . . . so, I'm running along to the current ALLSORTS CHALLENGE 825 to join in with their WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY theme (entering just the journal spread).

Snippets Playground - Another Bird Card!

Hi Playmates!

There's a new and fun challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight.

Here's my homework:

Card measures 4.75" square

The bird snippet was selected from here.

Details:

  • I used cardboard packaging, along with a snippet of SU card, to cut the twigs with a die.
  • Aall & Create Washi Tape #16 was added across the bottom edge of the card for grounding purposes.
  • Unbranded Temu bird die snippet glued onto the Washi Tape grounding. (I used scissors to round off some of the angles on the original die-cut bird.)

What's in Sarn's Satchel this week?

Hi Playmates!

After all the cake and bubbly over the last fortnight, I've put the big skipping rope into my satchel, so we can all get together and have fun taking turns to turn the rope and jump in and out of it while singing rhymes to work off some of those calories!

For my homework I have created a leafy thank you card, using up some snippets that were originally white, but were subsequently inked up, with a little stamping added here and there, plus some splattering with Winsor & Newton gold drawing ink.

4.75" square card

Attempting to show you the gold splatters!

My die cut leaves for a number of cards
(originally white snippets of card).

And while I was at it - I made another leafy card with a couple more of the snippety leaves.

Washi tape at the side; leafy snippets and words from a PaperArtsy set.

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight. If you find yourself at a loose end, why not make something with your snippets then come over to play? There will be the usual shenanigans going on in the treehouse and behind the bike shed, plus . . . there's the aforementioned skipping to be done!

Bird ATC

Here's a little Artist Trading Card (ATC) with a sweet sentiment that I'm hoping qualifies for the "Getting Sentimental" theme of this week's ALLSORTS CHALLENGE( #796). All you have to do is add a sentiment to your project (or choose the Anything Goes option).

ATC measuring 2.5" x 3.5"

MATERIALS:

  • Washi tape by Funky Fossil (out of stock, but probably discontinued)
  • Bird stamp from JOFY Lovebirds set by PaperArtsy, coloured with Tombow marker pens.
  • Sentiment created from a couple of different Uniko stamp sets

Sarn's Sunday Snippets!

Hi Playmates

Wow it's been a hot one in the UK this week! Not much crafting has been done at my place I can tell you!

However, I still have something to share with you, and this time it's a masculine birthday card for a friend of mine . . . made with my favourite leafy dies.

There's a stash of blueberry muffins under a glass domed cake stand up in the treehouse for elevenses - feel free to help yourself. I bagsy the comfy seat nearest the fan - and because I'm Prefect, I'm gonna pull rank! I'm thinking about asking Miss Di if there's enough money left over from raffle ticket sales to install air con in the treehouse!

Card base: 4.75" square

Leafy snippet

DETAILS:

  • White snippet of card inked by tapping various Distress Inks onto a non-stick craft sheet, spritzing the ink with water and dabbing the white snippet through the result. Added a bit of grungy stamping on top once the ink was dry, using an old Kaisercraft stamp, plus a few splatters.
  • Tim Holtz "Leaf Fragments" dies used to cut leaves from the inky snippet.
  • AALL & Create Washi tape #13 added along the bottom of the card because it matched the leaf colours so well!
  • The sentiment is from a JOFY PaperArtsy stamp set.
  • I stamped the tip of an AALL & Create grunge stamp at the very top of the card to join up the leaves and painted on a few dots for faux splatters.

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight.

Thanks for looking at my blog today, and for any comment you may choose to leaf(!).

HAPPY CRAFTING.

A windy day!

Hi Friends

Today's card features a very windy day where the poor girl's umbrella has blown inside out! Been there, done that! LOL!

The card details:

  1. I dabbed "Peacock Feathers" DOX ink onto a "Petals" embossing folder and spritzed it with water, then laid my piece of card on top to pick up the inky goodness! Once removed from the folder, I dabbed at the card to remove some of the ink so it wasn't too heavy.
  2. The Windy Day image (by Katzelkraft) was stamped with VFC Twilight ink, as was the SU sentiment.
  3. To colour the image, I used a waterbrush and the following DOX inks: Peacock Feathers (coat & umbrella); Uncharted Mariner (coat shading); Spiced Marmalade (stockings & scarf) and Iced Spruce (hair).

Sunday Snippets (Results)

Hi there playmates!

It's results week at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND so after you've finished your visit here, please feel free to skip over there to find out who won the prize and who Di picked to showcase. You’ll also find out more details about Di’s theme for her next Playground Challenge starting on Christmas Day

For my homework, I die-cut some branches from packaging (see second picture), as well as some leaves from a gelli print snippet, plus some tiny birds from a black snippet of card.

I added some Washi tape across the bottom (and on the inside too).

An A6-sized card.
Showing the branches I die-cut from packaging.

Only a week to go until Santa gets here! Hoping he has overlooked my Playground misdemeanours and has put me on the "good" list! Fingers crossed!

I will be doing further blog posts before the 25th, but just in case this turns out to be your last visit to my blog prior to Christmas Day, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for visiting and wish you much love, laughter and happiness this Christmas and into the New Year. xxx

Some Upcycling

Hi Friends

I was just about to throw an empty(!) Frusli box into the recycling bin, when I thought: "Hey, I could die-cut that and get creative instead of throwing it away!"

So I did!

Want to see the results? Of course you do - why else would you be reading this!!!! A bit picture heavy - so grab a cuppa!

Funky Fossil Washi tape at left edge; upcycled die-cut flowers
and a grunge stamp for grounding; finished with a
stamped sentiment by Printworks.

Two upcycled die-cuts and a large
Winnie & Walter sentiment stamp.

Upcycled die-cut bird branch;
Uniko sentiment & Aall & Create
washi tape at the bottom.

The original packaging I was just about to throw away
