An abstract design . . .

Hi there!

I saw some abstract cards on Pinterest, so I decided to have a go at making a card with an abstract design while I was crafting at a friend's house.

I masked off the edges of a piece of watercolour paper, then used Distress Inks, a stencil and some stamping.

The circles at the left hand side are by Crafty Roo, but the crosses and numbers belong to my friend . . . so I don't have their details, although they may well be from one of the Studio Light grunge sets!

I mounted the watercolour paper to the card front of a custom-made base card measuring 4.5" x 4.5".

Friendship Card

Today I have a CAS one layer card to share with you - using just three stamps and a little watercolouring.

I would like to enter this card into the March STAMPING SENSATIONS CHALLENGE where the optional theme is SPRING (or anything goes). I thought the buds looked like Pussy Willow so I'm entering under the theme. There's a lovely prize on offer and you have until noon on 1st April to enter.

A6 sized card

DETAILS:

  • PaperArtsy JOFY 102 set for the bud image
  • Bird stamp by SU (from the long retired Everything Eleanor set)
  • Friend definition stamp by Crafty Roo (no longer trading)
  • Inks: SU Sahara Sand and VF Onyx Black

Sunday Snippets - Crafty Roo Stamp

Hi Playmates!

Di has published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire her top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize. There's still nearly a week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so.

For my homework this week, I thought I’d make a card with an NBUS Crafty Roo stamp to showcase one of the stamps that also happens to be available as part of the prize in the current Snippets Playground Challenge

A6 sized card

Attempting to show you the glossy wings!

Card and matching envelope.

Materials used:

  • Inks: DI - Mustard Seed & Spiced Marmalade for the honeycomb. SU - Pool Party & Night of Navy for the circles. Versafine Onyx Black for everything! Ink pads were dabbed onto an acrylic block and picked up with a waterbrush to paint the card.
  • Stamps: Main stamp with honeycomb and circles is by Crafty Roo; the small bee is from the Julie Hickey “Sunflower Bee” set - plus I used the matching die for the bee; the “Flourish” word is from AALL & Create set #628 “Spread a little Happiness”.
  • Other materials: Foam pads to attach the die-cut bees (all the bees are snippets);  "Sea Breeze" Nuvo Jewel Drops (added to the bee wings).

Sunday Snippets - 14th September

Hi Playmates!

I'm hosting a new challenge over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND. This is a great opportunity for you to use up some of your snippets, then come over to the Playground for a 'show and tell'.

Miss Di is feeling better, but still has some healing to do. She's been safely ensconced in a comfy chair in the Staff Room with Dudley dancing attendance!

For my homework this week I made a card showing how one of the prize stamps can be used - as I have the same stamp in my own collection:

Card measures 5" square

Details:

  • Crafty Roo "Embrace the simple things" sentiment stamp (no longer available unless you win the challenge prize!).
  • AALL & Create #67 "Broken Circles" stencil.
  • SU splatter stamp from the retired "Gorgeous Grunge" set.
  • Florileges Design "newsprint" stamp (dabbed on here and there!).
  • Snippets: the daisy and its centre. The daisy die is by Marianne Designs. The flower centre is waste fall out from cutting with other dies!

Snippets Playground - Floral Cards

Hi Playmates!

It was a mixed bag of weather down South this week, and VERY windy to boot. However, the sun ALWAYS shines in the Snippets Playground, so that's where I've skipped off to.

I have two floral cards to share as my homework this week:

Cards measure 5" x 7"

All that's left of the green and
black snippets!

Details:

  • Crafty Roo floral stamps (kindly stamped and sent to me by my sister)
  • Snippets of green & black card.
  • Aall & Create "Florastella" stencil used on the left hand card.
  • Heffy Doodle Stitched Squares and Stitched Rectangle dies used on the right hand card.

Di has published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire her top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize. There's still nearly a week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so.

Allsorts Challenge - Week 645

Hello & welcome!

It's 8am on Saturday, which means it's time for a new ALLSORTS CHALLENGE

I'm delighted to reveal that I've joined the Allsorts Design Team for a while and this is my inaugural post as a team member!

It's Lolo's turn to host the challenge and she's chosen EMBELLISH IT as the theme - which leaves you plenty of scope to add all manner of bits and bobs to your projects!

I made a little pocket wallet and filled it with paper treasures. I embellished the front of the wallet as well as the bookmark that was inserted into one of the pockets.

So, why not head over to the ALLSORTS Challenge HERE to see further details on how to enter. You can also gaze in wonder at the lovely creations made by my talented team mates!

The folded & embellished pocket project

The finished project

that were inserted into the pockets!

To create this project:

I followed instructions from HERE.

I took a thin A4 sheet of white card and used a brayer to randomly apply acrylic paints across it on both sides. Once dry, I stuck some tiny pieces of newspaper to it with Mod Podge. Then added a little bit of stamping as well as scraping Gesso through a tiny dots stencil. The sheet was then folded up and red liner taper was used to stick the bottom edge together. Die cut embellishments were then added to the front.

While the main pocket wallet was drying, I made the enclosures by merrily brayering paint and adding stamping to more snippets of white card. I heat embossed  images with clear EP and also doodled with a white gel pen. Added  snippets of black card for the matting. I even used some ribbon on the bookmark!
