Allsorts Challenge - Week 660

Hello and welcome!

It's 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning, which means there's a new Allsorts Challenge waiting for you to play along with.

This week, my teamie Lorraine has chosen the theme: FOR A CHILD.

My DT card is below:

To make this card: I created a 5.75" square card blank. Next I stamped the Sugar Nellie "Little Cotton Rabbits" in black ink onto a snippet of white card and coloured them with Promarkers. I found snippets of gingham paper and mottled brown paper to mat and layer with. I die-cut the white patterned strip and glued it on. Finally, I added the sentiment (also part of the Little Cotton Rabbits set).

Artist Trading Cards - Snippets

Hi there!

Thanks for dropping by.

Up in the new and improved Snippets Playground Treehouse, I've been having inky fun making some Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) from what were originally longer strips of white card, left over from making my own base cards.

The GRAND DRAW RESULTS have been put up, and there's been a little celebratory party going on in the Treehouse over at DI'S SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND. There's new bunting in place and lots of comfy chairs, plus an extended bar and some nice new desks for homework too! Vicky H smuggled in some Sherry and leftover Christmas cake in her satchel and Carol L made some flavoured Pretzels, so we've been enjoying ourselves. The Playground swings and roundabouts and the seesaw have all had a lick of paint too!

Want to see the process? If so, read on:

First of all I cut a longer snippet of white card into 2.5" x 3.5" pieces, then sprayed each one separately with a variety of Dylusion Ink Sprays and left them to dry on newspaper.

Next a bit of splattering with my White Dylusions spray. Unfortunately, the sprayer was clogged, so what you see below are splatters done by pulling out the sprayer bit, dipping it in the white ink and flicking it at the ATCs!!!!

Another longer snippet I sprayed for future use.

Longer snippet used to stamp & colour
(see finished ATCs above)

I ended up adding some text to the eye ATC - which finished it off nicely:

I had a lovely time making these little cards over a few days.

Wishing you a wonderfully creative day.

NEW BLOG FOR THE SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND!

WOOT WOOT!

You may already have seen Di's blog post about the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND having a NEW HOME - a blog space all of its own. But if not - GO TAKE A LOOK HERE. She has a lovely prize on offer to launch the new blog.

I'll be causing mayhem up in the new and improved Playground Treehouse, just as soon as possible!

I've made card full of snippets. I got the Balcony Card idea from Lesley's Stampin' Ground HERE and thought it would make a lovely card for a 90th birthday.

I had lots of white snippets to die cut from, so I decided that was the only other "colour" I was adding to the Wisteria Wonder DSP and Pool Party matting.

Only the 6" x 6" card base was cut from a whole sheet of A4 white card - everything else is a snippet

A card full of snippets!

The measurements:

White card base: 6" x 6" (scored in half).
Decorate with designer paper BEFORE gluing the balconies on!

White inside (middle) piece: 5" x 2.5" (scored @ 0.5"; 2.5" and 4.5").
Flatten the card base and attach this piece to the bottom of the card base by gluing the little side tabs (or do what I did and move this middle piece UP A BIT for extra height)
.

White bottom piece: 7" x 1.5" (scored @ 0.5"; 3.5" and 6.5").
Flatten the card base and attach this strip to the bottom of the card by gluing the little side tabs.

  • The left and right hand sides of the two balcony pieces were decorated with strips of Pool Party card and Wisteria Wonder SU designer paper BEFORE gluing to the card base.
  • I lined up each balcony with the centre scoreline of the card base.
  • Add all the die-cut and punched flowers AFTER you've constructed the card with its balconies!

Sympathy Cards

Today, I have two sympathy cards to show you. I like to have this type of card readily available when needed, as invariably, you don't feel creative after receiving bad news.

So here's two uber-CAS sympathy cards. The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted and the focal images on each card are from an old Penny Black set (I think?).

I bravely stamped direct to the card front - but I had help from a stamp platform!

The leaf card on the left was stamped entirely in Versafine Clair Twilight ink and the flowers card used SU Gorgeous Grape ink with a black sentiment.

Congratulations Di - 10 years as Head of the Snippets Playground

Happy New Year to all who visit.

It's hard to believe that it's been a decade since Jules handed over the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND keys to Di, but there it is . . . it's TRUE nonetheless!

If you pop over to the Pixie's Crafty Workshop you'll find an AMAZING ANNOUNCEMENT about the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND. 👍

The card I'm sharing with you today was made specially for Di's Anniversary. Sorry it's not pink Di, but the snippets I had were in Wisteria Wonder & white!

I love "playing" in the Snippets Playground as it's such a friendly challenge.
It's easy to join in with, not to mention you get plenty of chances to win lovely prizes. Di has also donated over £200 to a dog rescue charity (by donating money in place of having to buy a prize, whenever a donated prize is used for a challenge).

Over the decade, there have been a few changes. It used to be a weekly challenge, and is now fortnightly, plus the delightful Dudley (a little white Havanese dog) has become the Playground Pup and is a firm favourite with everyone, entertaining us all with his amusing antics. Thanks for all that you do Di.

I'm delighted to call Di a friend of mine and I wish her all the best for the next 10 years.
