Sunday Snippets - Daisy Tag

Hi there Playmates!

For my homework this week, I used a few snippets up in order to make a little tag.

The tag shape was kindly sent to me by a lovely blog friend (you know who you are) and I'm pretty sure it was cut from snippets too! But even if it wasn't, everything I glued to the tag certainly was!

Materials:

  • Tag: unbranded tag die (likely to be Temu)
  • Grey snippet: die cut using a Heffy Doodle Stitched Squares die
  • Brown daisy: die cut using a Marianne Designs die
  • White flower: from Sizzex Tattered Florals set (mini version)
  • Julie Hickey Glossies for the grey gem in the flower centre
  • Background stamp: ancient, but I think it's by Kaisercraft.

I have published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire the top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize. There's still nearly a week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so.

I would also like to enter this tag into the current TAG-ALONG & ATCs CHALLENGE under the anything goes option. It’s not a colourful tag, but I DO like neutrals together.

Floral Tag

Hi there!

I made a double die-cut tag to enter into the current TAG-ALONG & ATCs Challenge where they want you to share your favourite colour for your tag, bookmark or AT coin/card. Now, in truth, I love all colours, but blue is my absolute favourite, especially turquoise and teal, but I also love purple. So, this tag is my second favourite colour, along with a touch of bright pink.

Materials:

  • Stitched Label Rectangle dies (D180117) by Gummiapan, held together with a eyelet which was set with my Crop-A-Dile tool.
  • Daisy dies by Marianne Designs (cut from snippets of an ugly journal page).
  • Julie Hickey Glossies dome in flower centre.
  • Strip of text from PaperArtsy JOFY Set 102.

Sunday Snippets - Hello Friend ATC

Hi Playmates!

For my homework this week, I made a floral ATC.

The inner purple/pink flower was one of the left over snippets from those cut in THIS POST.

Snippets for die cutting the flower and
stamping the sentiment

Details:

  • MFT sentiment from the "Friends Like Us" set, stamped onto the white snippet in the picture.
  • Background created using pink and purple ink, and a stamp from the SU Artistically Inked set
  • Book text by Florileges Design stamp ref: FG317034
  • Marianne Designs' Daisy flower dies used on the white snippet in the picture
  • Purple paper snippet from Studio Light Unicolour Paper pad
I would like to enter this ATC into the current TAG ALONG & ATCs CHALLENGE where the theme is ADD SOME TEXT.

I have published RESULTS from the previous challenge, so please hop over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND to admire the top picks and discover which lucky playmate won the prize. There's still nearly a week left to play in the current challenge if you haven't already done so.

Turning Ugly Journal Pages into Card Swans!

Ever made an UGLY journal page and wondered what to do with it? It's such a shame when, after you've had all the FUN of creating it, you stand back, look at it and think: "Well, that’s hideous, I'll have to gesso over that hot mess."

But not necessarily . . . I WAS going to blot out this page with white gesso . . . but then had second thoughts. I tore it out of my journal and used it to die cut pretty flowers with instead . . . then set about making some cards from the results.

Three cards made so far . . . and plenty of
flower snippets left to play with!

Materials:

  • Ugly journal page for die cutting.
  • Daisy flower die by Marianne Designs
  • Circle of Leaves die by Simon Says Stamp
  • Outline flower die by Concord & 9th (retired)
  • Sentiment on the trio of flowers card by MFT (no longer in business)

Sunday Snippets - 14th September

Hi Playmates!

I'm hosting a new challenge over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND. This is a great opportunity for you to use up some of your snippets, then come over to the Playground for a 'show and tell'.

Miss Di is feeling better, but still has some healing to do. She's been safely ensconced in a comfy chair in the Staff Room with Dudley dancing attendance!

For my homework this week I made a card showing how one of the prize stamps can be used - as I have the same stamp in my own collection:

Card measures 5" square

Details:

  • Crafty Roo "Embrace the simple things" sentiment stamp (no longer available unless you win the challenge prize!).
  • AALL & Create #67 "Broken Circles" stencil.
  • SU splatter stamp from the retired "Gorgeous Grunge" set.
  • Florileges Design "newsprint" stamp (dabbed on here and there!).
  • Snippets: the daisy and its centre. The daisy die is by Marianne Designs. The flower centre is waste fall out from cutting with other dies!

Sunday Snippets - What's in Sarn's Satchel this week?

Hi Playmates!

There's a new challenge to play along with over at the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND hosted by Miss Di for the next fortnight.

Here's my homework:

Landscape C6 card (opening on the right hand side)

Card and matching envelope.

MATERIALS:

  • Snippet of pink patterned paper (which was part of a magazine gift) glued to a white card snippet for sturdiness, then die cut with Heffy Doodle Stitched Rectangle dies. I used a further snippet of the same paper to decorate the envelope.
  • Heffy Doodle "Friend" sentiment die, cut from a white snippet.
  • Ancient Marianne flourish die cut from a white snippet.
  • Three little flowers punched out of a white snippet with a discontinued SU flower punch.
  • Julie Hickey Glossies for flower centres, plus a few more added just because!

In my satchel, along with my homework, I've got a tub of Bournville drinking chocolate for making hot chocolate up in the treehouse, plus some chocolate Digestive biscuits in both milk and dark chocolate varieties! Take your pick - personally I love the dark chocolate biccies! Oh, and don't tell Miss Di, but I've been smuggling in some hooch and stashing it around the treehouse ready for the Christmas Party! Wink, wink!

Inky ATC Fun!

Yesterday afternoon, I had fun making a few ATCs using snippets and getting inky hands!

4 x ATCs made entirely from snippets

Want to see the process? If so, take a look at the following photo's:

First, I squished a couple of Distress Ink pads onto a
non-stick craft sheet, spritzed them with water and
dragged a stencil through the wet ink.
I dabbed the inky stencil onto white snippets.

Once the ink was dry, I brushed Black Soot
Ink through the mini squares stencil.

Guillotined the snippets into 2¼" x 3¼" pieces so that I could
stick them to 2½" x 3½" mats once I'd finished embellishing them.

A very pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon in the craft room! I should like to say thank you to a fellow blog pal who kindly sent me the heat embossed elements that were added to the "Bee Happy" ATC. All other die cut embellishments are my own.

If you've never made an ATC, what's stopping you? The small size is great fun to play around with. The ONLY rule is that the finished size must be 2½" x 3½". Other than that, anything goes. If you have no-one to swap with, I'd be happy to swap an ATC with you on a one-off basis if you let me know in a comment below. Otherwise, I often add them as a topper to an A6 card front.
