Snippets Playground - Challenge 414

Hello and welcome!

I've had a blast in the Snippets Playground Treehouse over the last fortnight, making you all mugfuls of hot chocolate with marshmallow toppings. We ran out of marshmallows at one point but a fellow playmate kindly bought up another truckload! One night, during "Homework Club", a couple of playmates bought along the Kahlua and the Baileys, which REALLY helped our homework flow. [Hic!]

Anyway, for my homework this week, I'm sharing a new home card which I really enjoyed making.

All the white elements on the card front are snippets, which means I can skip over to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND and catch up with my fellow Playmates in the Treehouse where there's always fun and games to be had! All you have to do is scale the ladder and join in the mischief with me!

Card details:

I matted a previously made gelli print onto navy cardstock and attached it to the card front. I stamped the houses onto the gelli print in navy ink and grounded them using a tiny (retired) Lavinia foliage stamp. Next I stamped the houses twice more in navy ink onto white card snippets and cut them out with scissors.

I went around the white edges of the houses with a dark grey Tombow pen, then used light and dark grey Tombow pens to add a little depth to the images. They were then stuck to the card front using foam pads for both layers. I layered the sentiment in the same way.

  3. The ladder might prove an issue with my mobility, that's why I'vs asked for a lift to be installed in ours (in my dreams), but running our of marshmallows must have been a really low point for you all.

Love the intensity of your Gelli background, the white houses and sentiment really pop against it.

  4. Oh gosh I just love love love this! The background is awesome obvs, love how you used the little foliage to ground the houses, then how you stacked them up, and added the shading. Did I say I just love it :) …….keeping under the duvet to avoid spreading my cold to the playmates, but I’ll be back for some marshmallows soon xxx

  15. What a brilliant idea to layer the images with dimensional pads in each layer Sarn! Definitely nicking er... I mean borrowing that idea! In fact everything about this card is amazing - the colours, the gelli background, the little houses and the foliage stamp to ground them, the decorated envelope... Your creativity is off the scale!
